You can schedule a Newborn Session when you feel comfortable having others around you and new baby. However, it is best to schedule the Newborn Session within the first two weeks. They still like to sleep a lot during this time and it is less stressful for the baby, but honestly, it's less stressful for you.Schedule Your Newborn Session
First Let's Talk
Amy is in charge of coordinating all Newborn Sessions. After you book your session, we will talk and find out just what you want. We can do this on the phone or we can meet at Starbucks. If we meet at Starbucks, the drinks are on us. We will pick locations, talk about outfits, and answer any questions you have for us. Plan on at least a half hour for the consultation.Location Location Location
Newborn Sessions are different. Amy and I shoot Newborn Sessions in your home. That is where you are comfortable and so is the baby. You have access to everything you and the baby need and the privacy you need if baby gets hungry. So, we bring the studio to you. We only need a small area to put up the background and a couple of lights.
What Can You Expect During Your Session?
The Newborn Session is all about your baby and your family. These sessions generally take about two hours, but we do not run a timer. It is important that the baby is happy and comfortable. So we take our time.- When we arrive, we will set up the background and lights.
- We will take individual baby pictures first. Baby is why were here, so we want to get those just after baby has eaten.
- If there are siblings, we shoot those pictures next.
- Next, we will shoot the parents individually with baby and then together.
- Last, we will get the entire family.
- We pack up our stuff and be on our way.
Preparing for your Newborn Session. Here are some recommendations:
- Turn up the temperature. We will be changing outfits and don't want the baby getting cold.
- Make sure you feed the baby just before the session is supposed to start. A full tummy tends to make a happy baby.
- Find any special items you want photographed with the baby. We will bring props and baskets, but these photographs are personal.
- Relax.
