Family Session Information
Let's Talk
After you book your session, we will talk and find out just what you want. We can do this on the phone or we can meet at Starbucks. If we meet at Starbucks, the drinks are on us. We will pick locations, talk about outfits, and answer any questions you have for us. Plan on at least a half hour for the consultation.Location Location Location
There are so many places around Indianapolis to take pictures and I have my favorite places, which I will share with you during the pre-session conversation. However, this is not about me, it’s about you. If you have a favorite place let us know so we can talk about it.What to Wear
Color is Good. Your clothing should reflect who you are both in style and color. The family session last between one and two hours, you can change your clothes as long as there is a place to do so. Here are some tips:- Matching colors or outfits are ok, but you don’t see that much except for large family group pictures. Think more about coordinating outfit colors versus matching colors.
- Keep in mind the colors of your house when you pick your colors, because you will be hanging these portraits in your house.
- Remember to accessorize. Necklaces, Ties, Scarves, etc.
- Plan ahead once you book your session. Kids grow fast so make sure her favorite outfit still fits. We want you to be relaxed and have fun during the session. The last thing you want is to find out as your getting ready that nobody’s clothes fit.
- Try to avoid characters unless there is a theme you are going for such as Marvel characters.
- Lastly, your portraits will be around a long time. So, classic, simple clothing can give your portraits a timeless classic feel.
What Can You Expect During Your Session?
The portrait session is all about you and your family. Every image we capture is more than just an image it is a reflection of who you are and your relationship. Before our session we will have a consultation so we can discuss your expectations, ideas, and goals for our session. Preparation and communication are the keys to a successful portrait session, so make sure to share all your ideas and concerns with me during our consultation!
Children
- Remember this is supposed to be fun. So, get your kids excited for the session and let them know how much fun it will be, but don’t add too much pressure for "best behavior"
- Kids pick up on your stress, so stay cool, even when they throw a tantrum
- If your kids are overly excited or having an unruly moment, don’t stress. We are parents too and understand. I guarantee you that you are more worried about it than we are.
- Try to avoid characters unless there is a theme you are going for such as Marvel characters.
- Eat before your session and bring snacks and drinks. Also, sometimes treats can be used to bribe, I mean reward little for big smiles.
